Geraldine "Jerry" Ann Walthall Nichols Cooper

Geraldine “Jerry” Ann Walthall Nichols Cooper, 85, passed to a new life on Thursday, August 21, 2014.  She was born February 6, 1929 in Amarillo to Walter Walthall and Beulah Longbine.  She grew up south of Anton on the family farm.  Jerry attended Anton High School and Texas Technological College.  She married Carroll Nichols in 1950, who preceded her in death in 1993.  They were blessed with four children, Bruce, Mike, Beverly and Tony. 

In 1995 Jerry married Coy Cooper.  Grandmother and Grandpa Coy shared their love with their grandchildren Cara, Emily, Molly, Stephen, and Daniel Nichols, JoAnn Austin, and Blu and Evan Estes.  They are also blessed with great-grandchildren, Daytona, Tatum, Kemper, Breklyn and Pepper.

Jerry was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church and worked as a volunteer for Hospice of Lubbock.  She enjoyed visiting with friends at Henry D’s, doing yoga, and spending time outdoors working in the garden and visiting the farm.

In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Jerry leaves behind her siblings, Kay Castle and Harold, Dan, and Pat Walthall.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; one son, Bruce; and siblings, Marye Garbagnati, Norma Manley, and Walt Walthall.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with services beginning at 2:00 p.m.   Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
