Gregorio Hernandez Lira, Jr.

Gregorio Hernandez Lira, Jr., 69, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday morning, August 12, 2024. Gregorio was born on November 13, 1954, in Lubbock, to the late Gregorio Lira, Sr., and Lucia (Hernandez) Lira.

He grew up in Lubbock and attended Lubbock High School.

Gregorio has been a well-known and established barber in Lubbock for 25 years, before retiring in 2008 due to his health. He loved to fish, hunt, spend time with his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed entertaining people and being the life of the party. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include three sons: Travis of Slaton, Jacob of Lubbock and Jonathan of Lubbock; one brother, Tommy of Lubbock; five sisters: Esmeralda Flores of Lubbock, Rosie Lira of Lubbock, Nancy Grunstad of Lubbock, Linda Sosa of Lubbock and Ernestine Alonzo of Irvine, California; his former wife, Gloria Lira and nine beautiful grandchildren. Gregorio was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Robert Lira.

 A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be held at 2 PM on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lubbock. Cremation services are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory in Lubbock.
