Guadalupe Salazar of Lubbock passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the age of 66. She was born October 2, 1946 in Cameron County, Texas. Guadalupe married Encarnacion Salazar and they were members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Guadalupe enjoyed cooking for her family and caring for her grandchildren. She played Bingo and took every opportunity to go to the Casino when she could. Guadalupe also loved ‘Pan Mexicano’ with coffee every morning.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Encarnacion; three sons, Jason Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO and Encarnacion Salazar, Jr. and Patric Salazar, both of Lubbock; three daughters, Elodia (Juan) Acosta and Mary Lou (Randy) Rangel, all of Lubbock, and Isabel (Jimmy) Salazar of Lorenzo; father, Ernesto Mendez; six brothers, Jose Alberto, Jose Ignacio, Ernest, and Alejandro Mendez, all of Waco, and Alfonso Alvarado and Pedro Alvarado, both of Matamoros, Mexico; two sisters, Camila Mendez and Marina Dimas, both of Waco; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Guadalupe was preceded in death by her mother, Maria (Salazar) Mendez.
Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 11th and 12th at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at the Idalou Cemetery.
The family would like to personally thank the staff of Interim Hospice and the nursing staff at Whisperwood Nursing and Rehab Center for the wonderful care given to their loved one.
