Gwendolyn Ramona Akeroyd

Gwendolyn Ramona Akeroyd, 70, of Lubbock, TX, passed away on October 21, 2024. She was born on September 29, 1954, in Lubbock, TX, to Balford Bluhm and Georgia Oliver. 

Gwendolyn graduated from Coronado High School and went on to graduate from South Plains College with her nursing degree. She worked with Hospice of Lubbock as an R.N. for 25 years. Prior to her time with Hospice of Lubbock, she worked as an Oncology Nurse with the Methodist Hospital. 

She loved being a nurse with hospice and caring for people. One thing she enjoyed in particular was her time spent being able to teach new nurses the way of doing things. In her free time, she loved to watch cooking shows, especially the holiday baking shows. 

Gwendolyn is survived by her two sons, Robbie Creech of Lubbock, TX, and Lawrence Creech of Lubbock, TX; one brother Curtis Bluhm of Lubbock, TX; and her mother Georgia Bluhm. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Akeroyd; and her father Balford Bluhm. 

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 10:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. at the Combest Memorial Chapel in Lubbock, TX. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 2:00p.m. at the Combest Memorial Chapel in Lubbock, TX.
