Harley Daniel

September 11, 1944 — August 15, 2024

Harley Ray Daniel was born to Raymond and Dorothy (Morris) Daniel on September 11, 1944, in Ringling, Oklahoma and passed from this life on August 15, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas four weeks before what would have been his 80th birthday.

Harley spent his formative years in Dimmitt, Texas graduating from Dimmitt High School in 1963. After graduation, Harley attended Texas Tech University for two years and was a passionate fan of all things Texas Tech.

Harley was working as a disc jockey at KDHN radio in Dimmitt, Texas forever earning the nickname “Harley Ray the DJ” and living with his extended family Sal and Mary Alice DiCuffa in Dimmitt when he met and fell in love with the love of his life Linda Kay (Pulliam) Daniel. They were married for what would have been 56 years this November.

After they were married, Harley began his lifelong career as an insurance adjuster first with St. Paul Insurance. In 1982, Hereford Claim Service was born when the family moved to Hereford. It became Daniel Claim service in 1999 when he moved his business to Lubbock, Texas and his son Mark became part of the business. Harley was a proud former President of the Texas Independent Insurance Adjusters Association and Southwest Regional Vice President of The National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters.

While in Hereford, Harley was a President of the local Kiwanis club serving Hereford and the surrounding area.

Harley and family attended Central Church of Christ in Hereford where Harley served as both a Deacon and then an Elder in the church where he taught many Sunday and Wednesday classes using his children’s misdeeds as examples of what not to do and embarrassing them thoroughly. One of his greatest past times was to lovingly tease those he cared about, and he was a pro. Harley was a follower of Jesus Christ coming to faith after his marriage to Linda.

Harley’s real past times were loving people and telling great stories when he wasn’t out fishing, golfing, attending Texas Tech athletic contests or following his grandkids around to their various events. Linda and Harley also had many great times traveling for both pleasure and as part of their work with the Texas Independent Insurance Association.

Harley loved others completely as a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend to so many.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Raymond Daniel and Dorothy (Daniel) Ellis. His adopted mother and father Sal and Mary Alice DiCuffa. His brothers Bobby, Harold and Frank Daniel and brother James Robert “Jim Bob” Ellis. And his brothers Jimmy DiCuffa and Wilson “Junior” DiCuffa and sister Joanna DiCuffa.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Linda Daniel of Lubbock, Texas. His sister Ruth and Victor Esche of Austin, Texas. Three sons and a daughter, Casey and Leslie Daniel of Fort Collins, Colorado, Mark and Amy Daniel of Lubbock, Texas, Michael and Misty Daniel of San Antonio, Texas, and Pamela and Ramon Escobar of Andrews, Texas. Nine grandchildren, Braden, Haley, Cole, Addison, Lillian, and Lauren Daniel, Justin and Megan Escobar and Rosalinda Salinas. Two great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces that he adored.
