Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Harold Houston Pigg, 78, of Lubbock left this world suddenly on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Harold was born in Wellington, Collingsworth County, Texas to the late Kelly Arnold Pigg and Mary Miles (Kern) Pigg on August 19, 1944.
Harold met his wife of 47 years, Deborah Seguin, on a blind date and they were united in marriage on August 2, 1975, in Lubbock, Texas at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.
Harold attended Wellington High School, graduating with the Senior Class of 1962. He then attended Texas Tech University, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. He furthered his education at the University of Texas, graduating with his JD in May of 1969, though he remained a proud Red Raider. A gentleman lawyer, Harold was dedicated to the legal profession and practiced law for 54 years, up until the day of his passing.
Harold loved an adventure as much as he enjoyed sipping a Diet Coke under the cottonwoods on his land in Wellington, TX, his hometown. He was an old-school, honest lawyer. He liked to represent the underdog. He loved his actual dogs. He liked to fish, chase quail and hang out in the mountains. He was an avid tennis player, and enjoyed his weekly matches with long-time friends. Harold played the piano and trumpet and listened to classical music on Sunday mornings. Most of all, he loved being with his family, which has grown by seven grandchildren, Emme and Miles Guerra, Libby and Max Akins, and Tristan, Jane and Eli Decker.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his wife, Debbie; three daughters, Meg Guerra and her husband Ruben of New Braunfels, Molly Akins and her husband Lee, of New Braunfels and Kate Decker and her husband Todd of Austin, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Kern Pigg.
Funeral services for Harold will be held at 10 AM on Friday, March 3, 2023, at St. Paul’s on the Plains Episcopal Church, 1510 Avenue X, Lubbock, TX 79401. The Reverend James P. Haney V will be the officiant. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall at St. Paul’s. The family will then travel to Wellington, Texas for the final rites and burial at the North Fairview Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
Pallbearers will be Todd Decker, Ruben Guerra, Steven Lee Akins, Jr., Joe McKay, Sammy Ribble, and Case Brown.
