Herschel Weldon Bradley, 83, of Lubbock passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021. He was born in Avery, Texas to Joseph Weldon Bailey Bradley and Ollie Cleo Freeman Bradley on November 8, 1938. Herschel grew up in Avery and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957. He retired from the military in 1979 as a Master Sergeant. During his years in the Air Force he served three tours of Viet Nam and was trained as an airplane mechanic. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he went to work at Reese Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic where he remained until the base was closed. Herschel was married to Jennie May Clayton in 1960 and later to Rebel Taylor in 1989. He was a proud, loving father and grandfather to his family. Herschel loved his family deeply and was a generous person who was always willing to help others. Everyone who met Herschel loved him. He enjoyed fishing and cooking, especially his famous barbeque ribs.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shiloh Daj'chelle Bradley and David Weldon Davis; son, Bryan Weldon Bradley and Tamera Bradley; sister, Doris Jo Timmons; brother, Carlton Bradley; six grandchildren, Blake Morcom, Faith Morcom, Bradley Zeleznikar, Karma Jo Davis, Kasey Smith and Brock Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Cleo Bradley and Alvin Bradley.
Visitation for Herschel will be held from 9- 12 noon at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with a graveside service to follow at 2PM on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
