Homer E. Tisdale of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the age of 90. He was born April 28, 1923 in Lamesa to Jess and Ada (Gillespie) Tisdale. Homer was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during World War II. After honorable discharge, he worked as a Division Director of HUD before retiring. Homer married Evelyn Gillespie on April 28, 1950 in O’Donnell and they made their home in Ft. Worth for more than 55 years. While there, he was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Those left to cherish his memory are three nieces, Sharon Shepherd and husband Steve of Rockwall, Pamela Evans and husband Richard of Lubbock, and Cheryl Clark and husband Gordon of Dumas; two nephews, Elliott McNeill and wife Vickey McNeill of Richardson and George Childress and wife Una of Levelland.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; and two sisters, Jean Nunn and Ola McNeill.
Viewing will be from 1:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens.
