November 25, 1948 in Matamoros, Mexico. Hortensia worked as a homemaker and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Tencha loved to bake and share recipes. She enjoyed telling stories and was devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Her sacrificial hard work is what brought her family to the United States.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Antonio; four sons, Juan Antonio (Dianna) Mejia, Alonzo (Marcie) Mejia, and Pablo Rangel, all of Lubbock and Federico (Lupe) Mejia of Denver, CO; two daughters, Josie (Gary White) Torres and Sandra (Victor) Borrego, all of Lubbock; two brothers, Manuel and Antonio Baltazar; four sisters, Maria Rosario Baltazar, Maria Dolores Carillo, Aurora Gutierrez, and Maria del Carmen Marquez; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Tencha was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alfonzo Baltazara and Miguel Angel Marquez; sister, Alicia Baltazar; and one daughter-in-law, Senaida Mejia.
Viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
