Irene J. Walton

Irene J. Walton of Lamesa passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 at the age of 92.  She was born August 24, 1922 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Grover and Elsie (Davis) Pate. On June 2, 1940 Irene married C.B. “Buddy” Walton in Lamesa. Irene was a former member at Bryan Street Baptist Church in Lamesa.  She was a loving homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Ron Walton, Sr. (Patsy) of Lubbock; sister, Dorothy Shaul of Bakersfield, California; five grandchildren, Joe Walton, Jr. of Midland, Ron Walton, Jr. of Killeen, Greg Walton of Lubbock, Keetha Cook of Shallowater and Mike Walton of Lubbock; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Carrol “Joe” Walton, Sr.; two brothers, David and Doyle Pate; and three sisters, Velma Racy, Thelma Conner and Vera Zarkos.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2014 with the family receiving friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Combest Family Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2014 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Lamesa Memorial Park.
