Jackie Ray Boston, 88, of Lubbock passed away Friday, July 19, 2024. He was born November 8, 1935, in Fort Worth, Texas to Travis DeWitt Boston, Sr. and Veda Inglis Boston. He graduated from Gilmer High School and went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1960. He worked as an educator his whole life with most of that time working in Dalhart, retiring in 2002. Jackie married Terry Shewbert on February 6, 1976. They are members of Indiana Avenue Church of Christ. Jackie’s hobbies included spending time with his grandkids, watching sports, and doing word puzzles.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Terry Boston; children, Diana Steiner (Andrew), Valarie Berkshire, and Ben Boston (Julia); grandkids, Ella and Ethan Steiner, Leighton Berkshire, and Greg and Tinsley Boston; sisters-in-law, Bette Boston, Penny Rahlfs, and Vicki Schmidt.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Paul Boston; and brothers, Travis DeWitt Boston, Jr., Don Boston, and Charles Boston.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, Lubbock, Texas. A fellowship will follow from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas.
