James Amherst-Cates

James Samuel Amherst-Cates of Lubbock passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the age of 51.  He was born June 30, 1962 and lovingly cared for by his parents, Jackie and Eva Lee Cates of Scroggins, Texas.  James is also survived by two brothers, J. Lee Cates of Tampa, Florida and Andy Cates of Lubbock; four nephews; and one niece.  His extended family includes the staff and residents of the Lubbock State Supported Living Center.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Combest Family Funeral Homes.  Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
