James A. Johnson, 85, of Lubbock, passed away on Monday morning, April 18, 2022. James was born in Duncan, Stephens County, Oklahoma, on August 28, 1936, to the late Charles and Willie Mabel (Dooley) Johnson.
He met the love of his life, Pamela Hazelwood, and they were married on June 13, 1964, in Brownfield, Texas.
James was a truck driver and rancher for many years, before retiring in 2010. He was an honorably discharged veteran from the United States Marine Corp. He loved to watch TV, thought the world of his grandchildren, and was very family oriented. His family also related he could be a grumpy old man when he wanted to be.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Pamela; one son, Jeffrey Johnson and wife Victoria of Shallowater; two sisters, Shirley Hollingshed of Jamul, California and Lola Rowell of Idaho, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Melba Duncan and one grandson, Daniel Thomas Johnson.
Celebration of Life Memorial Services are being planned for a later date.
