James (JD) Zinck

James (JD) Zinck

James (JD) Zinck, 94, of Lubbock, was called to Heaven on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, to be with his Lord and Savior. JD was born on November 17, 1929, in Memphis, Hall County, Texas, to the late Henry Louis Joseph Zinck and Leffie Ersie (Whitefield) Zinck.

JD graduated from Canon City High School in Canon City, Colorado. Furthering his education, he attended Abilene Christian University (ACU), where he obtained his Bachelor’s of Science degree. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict, and was given an honorable discharge. 

JD married Nitalee Dallas in Clayton, New Mexico. She preceded him in death in 1981. He then met Marjorie (Morrison) Crawford, and they were married on December 20, 1982, in Clayton, New Mexico.

JD was a faithful minister in the Church of Christ. He served in Idaho, and did missionary work in Albania, Korea, Belize and Cambodia. He retired from active ministry in 2002. JD was an avid reader and loved to play bridge. He was a long-time member of Sunset Church of Christ.

Those left to honor and cherish JD’s memory include his wife, Marjorie of Lubbock; the children: Rachael Zinck Price of Merritt Island, Florida, Renee Zinck Bean of Edmond, Oklahoma, Blane Zinck of San Jose, California, Trina Zinck Richey of Gypsum, Colorado, Carl Zinck of Naples, Florida, Bryan Crawford of Lubbock, Texas, Nathan Crawford of Plains, Texas, and Alan Crawford of Hudson Oaks, Texas. Also surviving is seven wonderful grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Nitalee (Dallas) Zinck; one brother, Louis Zinck; two sisters: Doris Zinck Black and Wanda Zinck Bosco.

Per his wishes, no services will be held. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
