James "Bud" Wassell

Bud Wassell - James McClellan Wassell Jr., 77, passed peacefully surrounded by family on May 19, 2023. He was born to James McClellan Wassell Sr. and Kathryn Selwyn Anderson on April 12, 1946 in Lamesa, Texas. He had two older sisters Lila Kay Jackson and Carol Betty. Bud graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas. He went on to receive his Bachelors degree from Texas Tech University where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity class of 1968. He married his beloved wife Jeni Haley Wassell in 1965 and welcomed their daughter Kristi Len Price in 1966 . Bud spent his career working in banking and retired from Citibank in 2012. Bud was a life long competitor who enjoyed cards, ping pong, golf, and tennis which he played competitively until 2018.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeni, his sister Carol, his nephew Kerry Talbot, his brother-in-law John Betty, and his niece Meredith Jackson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Kristi Price and her husband Michael Price; his grandson Christopher Price and his wife Amy Gunnels; his grandson Matthew Price and his wife Brandi Price and their son Brady Price; his granddaughter Amy Price; his sister Lila Kay Jackson and her husband Don Jackson; and many other loved ones including the Crumley family.

A graveside service honoring Bud will be held on Tuesday, May 23, at the City of Lubbock Cemetery at 11:00 am. We welcome any friends and family who wish to attend.
