With grace and peace, Janna Toney went home to be with her lord and Savior on Thursday, January 2, 2014. The loss of such a sweet and cherished loved one is completely inexplicable.
Janna was born in Haskell, Texas to Vernon and June Brock Bowen on October 22, 1957. She is preceded in death by her father, Vernon, and father-in-law, Evans Toney, Sr. She graduated from Monterey High School in 1976 and on June 25, 1977 made the most beautiful June bride for her husband Evans “Chief” Toney, Jr.
Janna was an incredible artist and loved to create. She was also an avid reader. She is survived by her husband, Evans “Chief” Toney, Jr.; sons, Joshua and wife Katrina Toney and Micah and wife Jean Toney; and mother, June Bowen, all of Lubbock. She has a sister Teresa and husband David Stapp of Bonham, Texas. Janna was a loving grandmother to Lilly, Gracy, Evie and Micah Bowen Toney, Jr. who knew her as “bit-bit”.
Memorial services for our loving, precious Janna will be held at New Hope Church, 107th and Indiana, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014.
Chief met Janna and she stole his heart. He had 36 years with the most beautiful woman in the world. Through ups and downs, they always had their love for each other. She blessed him with two wonderful sons. Janna loved everyone and if you knew her, you couldn’t help but love her too. Chief would like everyone to know she is happy now with her daddy, father-in-law, and all those who have gone before her. Don’t feel sorry for the family, we only ask that you feel love and happiness. She was a friend and mother to all of us.
A memorial fund has been established at City Bank of Lubbock and contributions can be made on her behalf in the name of Evans Toney, Jr.
