Janie Munoz

Janie Munoz, 55, a resident of Lubbock since 1969, was gently lifted into heaven by her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  Janie was born on January 24, 1969, in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.

Janie has been a resident of the Lubbock State Supported Living Center since she was approximately 6 months old. 

Janie always had a beautiful smile and she talked to you with her eyes.  She loved to look pretty and for you to tell her that she was, as she thrived on all the attention she would receive.  Janie loved to watch people, and thoroughly enjoyed the therapy dogs at her home.   She loved listening to music, especially the guitar music that was played to her by the music therapist with Hospice of Lubbock.  She loved being read to and Janie just enjoyed the simple pleasures out of life.

Janie’s life will be honored, and her memories cherished by her guardian, Carla Prell, and the Lubbock State Supported Living Center staff family and residents, whom she was loved and cared for by.

A big thank you, from her guardian, goes to the staff of the Lubbock State Supported Living Center and Hospice of Lubbock for the excellent care she received during her time on this earth.

There will be a time of reflection and visitation for Janie from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center Chapel.  A brief service will follow at 2:30 PM in the Chapel, with Chaplain Wayne Moore officiating.  Following services, Janie will be taken to her place of eternal rest for final rites and interment at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home.
