Jc Armstrong, Jr.

JC Armstrong Jr. age 93 of Plainview, passed away July 25, 2022.  Graveside service will be at 10am, Friday, July 29, 2022, at Ropes Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and family from 4-7pm on July 28, 2022, at Rock City Church Event Center, 5911 4th Street, Lubbock, TX 79416.

JC was born November 13, 1928, in Ropesville, Hockley County, Texas to JC Armstrong Sr. and Irene Bates.  He married Avenell Garner on February 26, 1950.  JC served in the US Air Force in Korea.  JC farmed west of Ropesville for several years before owning and operating JC’s Farm Supply in Claytonville, Texas.  He moved with his family to Plainview, Texas in 1959.  JC retired from the US Postal Service.  JC enjoyed restoring antique tractors and repairing cars and pickups and all kinds of appliances.  He was a volunteer chaplain at Covenant Hospital, Plainview, taught Bible Studies at local nursing homes and delivered Meals on Wheels until he turned 90 years old.

JC was preceded in death by his wife, Avenell; granddaughter, Lauren Armstrong; and sisters, Mary Helen Williams and Sue Spradlin. Survivors include two sons, Duane Armstrong and wife Jane, and Jon Armstrong and wife, Sheila; daughter, Jill Carey and husband Leon; six grandchildren, Cory Armstrong and wife Jo Ann, Aaron Armstrong, Eric Armstrong and wife Stephanie, Sarah McMurray and husband Jonathan, Wendy Carey, and Melody Carey; five great grandchildren; and two sisters, Nancy Reeves and Kay Bailey.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st Street, Lubbock, Texas 79416.
