Jerry Garland Bailey passed away on April 15, 2025, in Lubbock, TX. He was born January 28, 1946, to Joseph Weldon and Laurine (Brownfield) Bailey, in Lubbock, TX. He graduated from Lubbock High School and continued his education at Texas Tech University.
Before graduating from Texas Tech University, he entered the United States Army, proudly serving his country in active duty from 1969 to 1970, during the Vietnam War; he was later released from the reserves in 1974. Jerry married Sandra (Sandy) Brooks on April 1, 1972. Jerry worked in Property Management until his retirement.
Jerry enjoyed all things outdoors, especially skydiving, water skiing, snow skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, soccer, camping, and Red Raider Football and Basketball.
Jerry and Sandy were involved in Skydiving, earning the Star Crest Recipient patch and the Star Crest Skydiving patch. More importantly, Jerry was a Christian at heart, a member of the Baptist faith, and a member of Second Baptist Church. He was baptized in a heartfelt ceremony 3 weeks prior to his death.
Those remaining, to carry on Jerry’s memories and legacy, are his wife Sandy Bailey, a son Zach Bailey and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Johnson, a daughter, Shiloh Bailey and grandchildren, Zakyra and Zakayzia Bailey, Malik Woodruff and Samantha Harris, four great grandchildren, three fur-babies, Shelby, Odie, and Hammie, and so many friends that are like family members.
