Jesusa Salazar

February 1, 1931 — August 14, 2024

Lubbock, TX

Jesusa (Susie) Galindo Salazar, entered her life on February 1, 1931 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 14, 2024 at the age of 93.

Susie had a sad start in life. Since she lost her mom at an early age, she was raised by multiple relatives. While she loved going to school, she was only able to complete the second grade as she was needed at home. She had a passion for learning, and often wished she had received a more formal education. She was a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church for over 60 years, a faithful servant of God, devoted to prayer and a woman of great faith.

Susie had many talents. She taught herself to sew and quilt and became an excellent seamstress. She was able to put her talents to use making alterations, embroideries and beautiful quilts as birthday and Christmas gifts for the family. She loved traveling with her family to visit relatives around the country and was blessed to visit many sites including the Holy land, and Hawaii.

In 1949 she married Francisco Salazar, the love of her life, they were married for over 70 years and were blessed with 9 children. Susie is survived by her 9 children, Lupie Martínez, Linda Vega, Adela (Richard) Spangler, Carlos (Patricia) Salazar, Delia (Michael) Wiles, Jesusa (Tommy) Bleeker, Frank Salazar, Samuel (Maria) Salazar and Tina (Eliseo) Torres; 26 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Salazar, her parents Refugio and Guadalupe Galindo, her brother Ignacio Galindo, her sisters, Herminia Salazar, Ruth Navarrete, Margie Galindo and Suzanna Galindo.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p. m. at the Venue on Broadway.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Pathway of the Cross. Burial to immediately follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
