Jimmie Faye "Mimi" Kennedy

April 21, 1947 — November 25, 2022

Lubbock

Jimmie Faye "Mimi" Kennedy began her journey in God’s Kingdom on November 25th, 2022. Faye was born on April 21st, 1947, in Lubbock. She attended Lubbock High School and received her Nursing degree from South Plains College. Faye married her “Honey”, Larry on August 8th, 1964, in Lubbock TX.

Faye met the love of her life in 1961, while grabbing a coke at the Dairy Queen. They built an adventurous life together and visited much of the country during their 55 years of marriage. She was the daughter of a mechanic, a homemaker and had one sister. They had a simple life filled with hymns, family, and fellowship at Central Baptist Church. Faye loved her relationship with her savior Jesus. She loved old gospel hymns and enjoyed worship with Southcrest Baptist Church.

Faye loved the lake, her family, and friends. She loved fishing and just being at the lake with friends. In 1984 she became “Mimi”, her legacy.  Mimi was always at the center of gatherings, and family fellowships. She made friends that became family and have remained a part of her life. Mimi worked as a Nurse most of her adult life. Before receiving her Nursing degree in 1984, she worked in the Optical field. She thrived in this area and worked for some of the area’s top companies. Nursing was her passion though. She gave herself and talents to every patient. She worked at Methodist Hospital until moving to San Antonio. Mimi continued her career in nursing working in Salt Lake City before returning to Lubbock in 2003. She finished her nursing at UMC in the surgery/ENT department and retired in 2013. Mimi loved her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and enjoyed every minute with them. Her grandkids were the joy of life, she was the preeminent Mimi.

She enjoyed going on many adventurous trips with her Honey. They loved the experience travel, and the slots many destinations, all while making memories. Faye and Larry enjoyed the sights and sounds of every location, but above all they enjoyed just being together.

Faye was preceded in death by her Husband, Larry Kennedy in 2019, Sister, Betty Lou Edge in 2018, her father, James Drury in 1989, and her mother, Oleta Drury in 1985.

She is survived by her son: Kenny Kennedy and wife Dorothy of Lubbock, and Mimi was blessed with five grandchildren; Michael Kennedy and wife Sara, Ryan Kennedy and wife Tiffany, Garrett Kennedy, and wife Kamber, Brady Kennedy and fiance' Erin Freeman, and Reagan Kennedy all of Lubbock.
