Joe E. Buster, Jr., 70, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, December 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on November 12, 1953, in Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico, to the late Joe Edwin Buster, Sr. and Mavis (Hammons) Buster.
Joe grew up in the Carlsbad area and graduated from Carlsbad High School.
Joe was a self-employed carpenter for over 20 years. He loved to watch television, was interested in sci-fi and an avid reader of novels, as well as woodworking and politics. He supported the veterans through the Wounded Warriors Project. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lubbock.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include one nephew, David S. Turner, II and his wife Jeannette of Lubbock; one niece, Hallie Taylor of Lubbock; an aunt, Sue Hammons of Lubbock as well as several great-nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Deborah Turner and her husband David S. Turner, Sr.; an uncle, Eddie Joe Hammons and a niece, Priscilla Turner.
Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Pastor Tom Lakey, of First Assembly of God Church, will be the officiant. Cremation arrangements and services are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Joe’s memory be sent to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
