Joe Cox

Joe Cox, 103, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014.  He was born September 11, 1910 near Ambia, Lamar County, Texas to Nick O. and Mary Etta Harvey Cox.  Joe graduated from Ralls High School and went on to graduate from Draughon’s Business College.  He married Daisy Evelyn Goree on December 22, 1928 in Crosbyton.  Joe was a member of Sunset Church of Christ.  He retired from Armstrong Transfer and Storage as a bookkeeper after 37 years. 

Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 78 years, Daisy; a son, Jerry Franklin Cox; and a daughter, Daisy Delores Thompson Light.  He is survived by two daughters Shirley Andrews of Lubbock and Nancy and husband Clyde Barber of Dumas; three sons Joe Weldon Cox and wife Betty of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, Ronnie Cox and David Leroy Cox, Sr. and wife Sue of Lubbock; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Combest Family Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends 5:00-7:00 p.m.  Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Sunset Church of Christ with interment to follow at Ralls Cemetery.
