Joe Huerta, Jr., 55, of Lubbock and husband of wife Frances, departed this earth and joined his Lord on Wednesday morning, December 8, 2021. Joe was born to Joe Huerta, Sr., of Lubbock, and the late Celia (Nieto) Huerta on February 14, 1966, in Abilene, Texas.
Mr. Huerta met Frances Rojas, the love of his life, and they were married on August 5, 2017, in Lubbock, where they have resided.
Joe worked in the maintenance department at Lubbock-Cooper High School for many years, before becoming employed with Texas Tech University. He loved his family and grandchildren, as he was very family centered and enjoyed the holiday's. Joe was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Tech University Red Raiders football teams, as well as "getting into" Super Bowl games. Grilling outside and playing pool were favorite pastimes that he thoroughly enjoyed, as well as baseball, basketball, music and dancing. Joe was a member of Trinity Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Frances; two sons, David Huerta and wife Nicole, Joe Marcus Huerta and wife Kristie, both of Lubbock; two daughters, Sarah Huerta and Irene Pauda and husband Jacob, both of Lubbock; his father, Joe Huerta, Sr. of Lubbock; three step-daughters, Beatrice Duenez and Ashley Duenez and her husband Angel Meija, both of Lubbock and Crystal Ortiz of San Antonio; two brothers, Edward Huerta and wife Linda and Edmund Huerta, both of Lubbock; three sisters, Velma Huerta and her husband Ray Garcia and Amanda Huerta, both of Lubbock, and Cathey Huerta and husband Jared Williams of San Antonio, and 19 lovely grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Celia Huerta on November 23, 2021, and one nephew, Joey Flores, III, in September of 2004.
Visitation for Joe will be on Sunday, December 12, 2021, from 1 PM to 8 PM, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Monday, December 13, 2021, at the Venue on Broadway, with Pastor Joshua Lucio officiating. Interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
Pallbearers will be Joe Marcus Huerta, David Huerta, Edward Huerta, Donovan Sanchez, James Sendejo, Ray Garcia, Angel Meija and Adam Morales.
