Joe R. Rodriguez

Joe R. Rodriguez of Idalou passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the age of 70.  He was born November 2, 1942 in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico to Miguel and Aurora (Rangel) Rodriguez.  Joe married Susie Marmolejo on April 28, 1962 in Petersburg.  The couple later moved to Idalou where he has owned Joe’s Barber Shop since 1974.  Joe and his family started a Christian music ministry. They were members of Nueva Vida Church in Ralls.  He was also a former member of the Lions Club.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susie; two sons, Joe, Jr. of Canyon and Jorge of La Vernia; three daughters, Teresa Gomez, Ester Garcia, and Angela Garcia, all of Lubbock; brother, Robert R. Rodriguez of San Diego, CA; sister, Sandra Maestas of Wichita, KS; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Pascual and Asencion Rodriguez.

Visitation will be 1:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Combest Family Funeral Homes of Idalou with the family receiving friends 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at First Baptist Church with interment to follow at the Idalou Cemetery.
