John was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico March 31, 1938. He attended high school in both Ponca Military Academy in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Highland High in Albuquerque.
John joined the navy after high school and served aboard aircraft carriers from 1956-1960.
John worked as a pipe fitter and plumber out of local 412 Albuquerque, mostly on the powerplants in Farmington. John pulled his book from 412 in 1982 and moved to Lubbock in 1983. He went to work for many plumbing companies until he joined Texas Tech plumbing shop and maintenance. John was known as “Dad” to many children.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Afton and Delphia Elizabeth (Pryor) Isaacs; his wife Margaret Isaacs; and two sons, Billy and David Isaacs.
John is survived by his children, Vicky Hoeffner (Travis) of Lubbock; Elizabeth Miller of Oklahoma; Bryan Everheart of Dallas, Linda Perkins of Lubbock; sisters, Bonnie Gray of Colorado and Darlene Adams of Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for John will be held 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 24, 2023 in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 25, 2023, also in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
