I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away…
John Patrick Seaman, age 55, of Lubbock, TX, slipped away into eternal sleep peacefully in his home after years of fighting heart disease on March 29, 2023.
Pat was born on March 16, 1968 to the late James and Betty Seaman. He was the 5th of 6 children. He lived and worked in the Lubbock community his entire life and married his wife of 14 years, Liz Muray in June 2008. Pat worked many years for the Lubbock Avalanche Journal in the circulation department. He was happiest when he was enjoying a good book, or kicking back listening to heavy metal classics. He had a big heart for his family and was a wonderful brother and friend. He cherished playing Uncle to his many nieces and nephews, and later in life, he was so overjoyed to have a son of his own. Zachary came into the world in February of 2009 and quickly became more than just Pat’s pride and joy. For Pat, Zach is everything good in this world, and he would light up every time he talked about his son. It was a true blessing for Pat to know the joys of fatherhood. Pat was all about family, and being a father, an uncle, a brother and a husband was a big part of who he was.
Pat is survived by his wife Elizabeth Seaman; son, Zachary Seaman; step sons, Kristopher Gaona and Jacob Gaona, all of Lubbock; 3 brothers, Tim Seaman of Houston, Terry Seaman of Lubbock and Glen Seaman of Lubbock; 2 sisters, Debbie Porter of Charlotte, NC and Tiffany Koertner of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Seaman and James Seaman.
The family will be celebrating Pat’s life in a private memorial on Saturday, April 8, 2023. Memorial contributions may be made to Literacy Lubbock.
