Jonelle C. (Caffey) Knisley (97) passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in Lubbock, TX. She was born Monday, August 3, 1925, to Leo Clyde and Clysta Della (Hurt) Caffey, in Loop, TX. Jonelle attended and graduated from Loop High School in 1940 and attended Texas Tech University for a short period of time. Jonelle married James (Jim) Samuel Knisley Jr. January 2, 1943; she became a homemaker, attending to and caring for her husband and the children they had, Jeannie, Marilyn, and James III. Jonelle enjoyed making bread, reading, playing bridge, and dancing with Jim. She was a Christian at heart and attended the Presbyterian Church.
Jonell was preceded in death by her Husband: James Samuel Knisley, Jr. (Jim). 2 Daughters: Jeannie Pillow, Marilyn Rowden. Son-in-Law: Jerry Rowden. 3 Siblings: Delton Caffey (Myldred), Frances Caffey Hollar (Richard), Lowell Caffey (Kay). Those left to cherish her many memories are her Son: James Samuel Knisley, III (Jimmy) and wife Genell of Grassland, Texas. Six grandchildren: Robert Pillow (Rita) of Hobbs, New Mexico; Renea Garza (Billy) of Crane, Texas; Michael Knisley (Sonnie) of Rapid City, South Dakota; Stephanie Knisley (JJ) of Harrah, Oklahoma; Angela Haak (Seth) of Great Falls, Montanna; Scott Knisley (Tyler Marie) of Fargo, North Dakota. Son-in-law: Eddie Pillow (Rita) of Lubbock. 13 great-grandchildren: Joshua Pillow, Kristen Pillow, Austin Garza, Aric Garza, Rachel Hall, Connor Knisley, Savannah Knisley, Mallory Knisley Remington Haak, Easton Haak, Norah Haak, Grace Haak, Ashton Knisley. Many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
The Knisley family will honor Jonelle’s memory with a funeral service at 11:00AM, Friday, April 28, 2023, with Genell Knisley officiating, at Carillon Chapel 1717 Norfolk Ave. Lubbock, TX 79416. The visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. The burial will be in the Kaufman City Cemetery on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 1:00PM. Arrangements were entrusted to Combest Family Funeral Homes.
