Joseph Arthur Jones, Sr. was called home to be with his Lord on March 29, 2025, while surrounded by the love of his family at his home. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose life was marked by faith and service.
Born on February 26, 1943, in Pueblo, Colorado, Joe was the cherished son of Laura Delilah Merritt Jones and James Ausbin Jones, Sr. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. In July 1966, he married the love of his life, Sandra, and their union was a testament to loyalty and devotion until his final moments. Together, they raised their children, Jo Diann (Jodi) and Joseph Arthur, Jr. (Archie) and their bonus children, Darlene, Deborah, Edna and Sammy, fostering a home filled with love and faith.
Joe pursued his passion for learning while attending Freed Hardeman College in Henderson, Tennessee. His commitment to God and community was evident in all that he did. He worked as a draftsman, teacher, preacher, and building contractor. Joe and Sandra also took on the noble task of fostering children, sharing compassion and wisdom with those in need. His dedication continued as he became a licensed electrician, a professional counselor, and a marriage and family therapist.
Joe had a zest for life that included hunting, fishing, golfing, and traveling, creating many cherished memories along the way.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and three brothers, Sonny, Phil and Wade.
Joe leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted wife, Sandra; his children, Jo Diann Scarborough and Joseph Arthur Jones, Jr.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Jami Diane Jones Ward and her children, William and Jackson Ward, Kati Lynn Templeton, Ausbin Jones, Abner Jones, Bailey and Scott Scarborough and Garrett and Rex Scarborough. His siblings, Jim Jones, Sarah Key, Daniel Jones, Ward Jones, Dean Jones, and Amy Smith; as well as a host of community members, church family, and friends who will deeply miss his presence.
