Jovita Quintanilla of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the age of 87. She was born February 15, 1927 in Ballinger to Esther Hernandez. Jovita married John Quintanilla on August 15, 1943; he preceded her in death on May 8, 2012. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Manual and wife Mary, Fermin and wife Lupe, all of Lubbock and Tommy and wife Sonia of Plainview; two daughters, Gloria Olguin and husband Luis and Janie Olguin, all of Lubbock; brother-in-law, Vito of Hamlin; sisters-in-law, Fernanda Soliz and Tomasa Pardo of Abilene, and Lillie Quintanilla of Greeley, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Jovita was preceded in death by her mother and husband of more than 68 years John.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Our Lady of Grace with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
