Juan "Johnny" Gonzales

Juan “Johnny” Urive Gonzales, 84, of Lubbock, passed away from his earthly home on Friday, February 24, 2023. He was born on July 6, 1938, in Pflugerville, Texas to Selestino Gonzales and Asuncion Urive. Johnny attended Lubbock High where he graduated with his high school degree in 1957. He worked as a cook for many years, and in many different restaurants.

Johnny will best be remembered by his social personality. He loved to hang out with family and friends. Johnny was a big fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Julia Campos; children, Carlos Gonzales, Ricky Gonzales, Luis Gonzales, and Nelda Guadalupe; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Villareal and Lucia Maggio; and sons, Johnny Gonzales, Jr., and Christopher Gonzales.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 1:00pm until 8:00pm at the Combest Memorial Chapel, a rosary will be recited at 6:00pm. A mass will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 10:00am at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
