Julia "Judy" Ottelia (Colvin) Morrison

Julia Ottelia (Colvin) Morrison, 79, of Lubbock, fondly known as Judy by most, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Judy was born on April 29, 1945, to the late George Ray Colvin and Amelia Ella Pauline (Geissler) Colvin.

She grew up on Rock Pile Farm outside of Turkey, Texas, where she attended school and met the love of her life, Murry Wayne Morrison. They were united in marriage on August 31, 1963, in Turkey, Texas. Murry and Judy raised their family in Quitaque, Texas where Murry farmed and ran the local grocery store.

Judy and Murry enjoyed dancing, traveling, and spending time with family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. In 1984, they moved to Lubbock where they worked for the U. S. Postal Service for many years and faithfully attended Quaker Avenue Church of Christ.

Judy was a talented seamstress, who loved teaching her granddaughters to sew, crochet, and quilt. In her later years, she poured her passion into making beautiful legacy quilts for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Grandmommie, as she was known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was so proud of the family she and Murry built and of the 61 years of marriage they spent together.

Judy left behind a tremendous legacy; she and Murry have three children: Colvin Morrison who is married to Latesha, Criss Morrison who is married to Kaylene, and Cari McCullough who is married to Jared. She has nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren with the twentieth on the way. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Murry Ernest Morrison and Johnnie Lucille Morrison; one brother, George Colvin, Jr.; and two sisters, Rae Logan and Etwoile Hamilton.

A visitation for Judy will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, next to Combest Family Funeral Home.
