Julie LaNelle Zamora

January 12, 1970 — September 2, 2023

Shallowater

On the afternoon of September 2nd, 2023, Julie Lanelle Zamora passed away surrounded by family and friends in her home after a year and a half long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Julie was born in Lubbock, TX on January 12th, 1970, to William and Dorothy Oden. She was the youngest child following her three older brothers- Ronald, Carl and Brent.

As a child, Julie had a love of life and family. She often went fishing and catching grasshoppers with her daddy. She spent many summers with her cousins, and she adored her brothers (when they were not rolling her into a carpet burrito).

She graduated from Slaton High School in 1988, and shortly after had her first of three children with her former husband.

In her early adult years, Julie was an amazing mother. She often carried multiple jobs, ran around from one sporting event to another, and still made time to goof around with her kids. Julie loved writing poems, drawing, and playing cards with her mother, any chance she got. Julie began working in the accounting world and eventually found her home at Grassano Properties in 2007 where she became the Corporate Director. This is also where she met her loving husband, Rene Zamora or as Julie called him ‘mi Amore”.

Rene and Julie married on February 6th, 2016. They spent their time together travelling across the country, building onto their home in Shallowater and soaking up time with their grandbabies. Julie loved woodworking and watching her grandkids play sports and sing. Julie has always known the Lord but over her last year of life, she began to develop a deep passion for Jesus. She shared that passion often.

Julie is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Oden (McElroy); her father, William Oden; her brother, Brent Oden, and her sister-in-Law, Myra Oden.

Julie is survived by her husband, Rene Zamora; her brothers, Ronald and Carl Oden; her children, Jessika Fuss, Kandice Billeter, Brent Bowie, and Michael Zamora; and her 7 grandchildren, Tinzlee, LynLee, Anderson, Hadlee, Blakelee, Wyatt, and Prim.

Julie has chosen to be cremated. A celebration of Julie’s life will be held at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401 at Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory on September 11, 2023, at 10:00AM. Flowers/memorials can be sent to 2210 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401.
