Ken Larrabee of Lubbock passed away peacefully Monday, March 18, 2013 at the age of 86. He grew up and attended school in Elmira, New York before moving to California and West Texas, where he spent much of his life in Littlefield. He worked in the construction industry and was very involved in the Republican Party. Ken served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was honorably discharged. He later became active and involved in Dale Carnegie Speaking Seminars, Elks Lodge, Disabled American Veterans Organization, and Alzheimer’s research. Ken was a member of Monterey Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Lisa Larrabee and Nicole Shields; three sons, Ken “Chipper” Larrabee, Jr., Jimmy Larrabee, Sr., and Scott Larrabee; one sister, Evelyn; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Flotella Larrabee; two brothers, Francis “Tut” Larrabee and Willis Larrabee; two sisters, Betty Robson and Genevieve Gunderman; and one daughter, Laura Ianetta.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
