Kimberly "K-Rae" Hendley

Kimberly Rae Hendley, 30, passed peacefully at home on July 27, 2023.  Affectionately known as K-Rae, she was born February 17, 1993, to Roy Don and Carole Hendley and sister Christie in Lubbock.

Always on the go, K-Rae’s interests included rodeo, stock shows, basketball, fitness, modeling, traveling and anything adventurous!  From sky diving to hiking, she was always looking forward to her next getaway. She also took pride in caring for her cats and her plants. She made so many friends through her journey and will be missed by all.  Her infectious smile and laughter always lit up the room.

K-Rae attended Lubbock Cooper and Monterey High School, graduating with honors in 2011.  She obtained her Associate degree with honors from South Plains College in 2013 and was a member of the SPC Rodeo team.

Even before her cancer diagnosis, she was a firm believer in positive thinking.  Her cancer journey led her to study naturopathic healing and the power of positivity.  Through her, several family and friends came to view the world and all it has to offer in a better way.

K-Rae’s most favorite role in life was that of YaYa to her M&M’s…Macklynd and Mayzee.  She loved being with them playing, coloring, pool time, and watching Macklynd rodeo and play sports.  It was never goodbye when they parted, but instead a game of ‘See you Later Alligator’.

K-Rae is survived by her parents Roy Don and Carole of Lubbock and sister Christie Bohlender (TJ), nephew Macklynd and niece Mayzee of Amarillo. She is also survived and loved by several aunts and uncles, Rick Hendley (Cam) of Rocksprings, TX; Ab Hendley of Friona, TX; Scott Hendley (Gretchen) of Abilene, TX; Kellye Hickman of Sulphur, OK; Deb Hendley of Lubbock, TX; and Cindy Hendley of Albany, TX. She is also survived by many cousins and a host of friends. K- Rae cherished a lifetime of memories made with her sister-in-heart, Hailee (Kris) Schilling of Idalou, TX.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Ab and Ruth Hendley, and Wallace and Betty Hickman, and by her uncle Phil Hickman.

Kimberly, YaYa, K-Rae, Kim, Kimmy, Baby K, Kimmy Strong; no matter what nickname you called her by she loved life and friendship.  She asked that her message to you be this…Take the time to unwind, take the trip, live life to the fullest, be adventurous!
