Kimberly Jeanette (Harris) Morphew, 72, of New Deal, Texas, passed away on January 4, 2022. Kim was born on October 10, 1949. Originally from her beloved birth state of Ohio, she lived in many different states, and she moved to New Deal in August of 2020. She was a member of Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock.
A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, autumn was her favorite season. She could provide colorful commentary on every college and pro football game in such detail that the great John Madden would have been impressed.
While she spent the majority of her professional life as a legal secretary, her heart belonged to teaching. She spent most of the 1990's educating young minds at Raymond High School & Rebul Academy. She was a perpetual supporter of her students in all their endeavors. After her official retirement, she worked to obtain her doctorate in Education. Her final thesis was approved just a few weeks prior to her death. She loved music, the pursuit of knowledge and playing an impactful role on young people.
Kim is survived by her third husband Kip Morphew of New Deal, parents Richard T. & Allison Harris of Palm Harbor, Florida, daughters Rachel (Brad) Roberts and Pamela (Kevin) Wallace of Jackson, Mississippi, five grandchildren, Lacy, Corey, Kimberly, Riley, & Cassandra, four step-children Preston Benton, Lexi Benton, Zachary Morphew, Branson Morphew, younger brother Richard T. Harris, II, beloved cousins Brenda Ramey Combs and Jeni Harris Cheatham and cherished friend and partner in crime, Shay Elliot. She is preceded in death by two previous husbands, Rick Knox and Phillip Benton.
It was Kim's wishes that no services be held. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in her name to Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation at www.mhopus.org.
