Lena Williams-Killman

Lena Francis (Williams) Killman, 91, of Lubbock passed away on October 26, 2022. She was born the fourth of nine children on February 4, 1931, to Carl and Bertha Williams in Draw, Texas. She attended the Draw Redwine School until the 4th grade when it closed, and the family moved to Tahoka where she finished public school graduating from Tahoka High School in 1948. In 1949 she began attending Texas Technological College where she continued for a few semesters and married her first husband. Later she met the love of her life Perry Marrion Killman, and they married on November 4, 1961. In the middle 60’s She and Perry formed Perry Killman Drywall which eventually became Perry Killman Drywall and Acoustic. They both worked together in the business until the early 1980’s when they sold the business and retired.

Lena became a member of Southcrest Baptist Church in 1962 and was still a member at the time of her death. She was an active member of the PTA and Girl Scouts of America while her children were in school, and she was awarded a lifetime membership in the PTA. She was a member of the Red Hats, The Jolly Old Elders, and White River Lake Chapel. Both she and Perry served together for many years as volunteers for Lubbock Meals on Wheels.

Lena enjoyed a variety of boating and water related activities with her siblings and their families while wearing the infamous communal Black Bathing Suit. She loved her home of 70 years on 82nd Street, where she was often remodeling her home and working in her yard. She loved her old 1950 Frigidaire and enjoyed having large groups over for Christmas Day Breakfast. She loved playing in the Snow at Ruidoso during the Thanksgiving Holidays and collecting bouquets of Autumn leaves. She enjoyed doing needle point, watching wild birds, and keeping current on each year’s cotton crop.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bertha Mabel (Childress) Williams, Her Husband Perry Marion Killman, Her siblings Juanita Joyce (Williams) Bueermann and husband John Raymond Bueermann, Billie Leon Williams and wife Georgie Lenora (Reed) Williams, Fred Warren “Slick” Williams and wife Bonnie Elvera “Vera” (Alvis) Williams, Jerry Dean Williams, Donald Gene “Shorty” Williams, Richard Wayne Williams, Sister-in-law Myrna Jane (Shepherd) Williams, Brother-in-law Thomas Lynn Davis, son-in-law, Gary Stephen Merrell, grandchild Keith Michael Killman, and great grandchild Charly Rose Killman.

Lena is survived by her Four children, Franklin Carl Stuart, Mary Susan (Stuart) Osborne and husband James Robert “Bob” Osborne, Lendale Marrie Killman, and Letitia Janet Killman. Her Three Stepchildren, Patrick Joseph Killman and wife Susan Jane (O’Malley), Michael James Killman and wife Sally Alberta (Montgomery) Killman, and Paula Joyce (Killman) Merrell. Her siblings Bobby Carl Williams and Patricia Ann “Susie” (Williams) Davis. Her Sisters-in-law Dorothy Ann (Taylor) Williams, Nancy Sharon (McCormick) Williams, Glenda Ann (Jackson) Williams.

Lena was blessed to have 12 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 1:00pm to 8:00pm with family receiving friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Services will be held on November 4, 2022, at 10:00am at Southcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
