LeRoy A. Montoya, 70, of Lubbock, passed away Tuesday night, December 7, 2021. Mr. Montoya was born on December 27, 1950, in Las Vegas, San Miguel County, New Mexico to the late Dionicio Montoya and Maria (Lesperance) Montoya.
LeRoy attended Los Alamos High School and graduated in 1969. Following graduation from high school, he attended Eastern New Mexico University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Ethnic Education and Reading in 1973. During his college years, he worked at Cannon Air Force Base helping soldiers to read. Mr. Montoya met Martha (Marty) Lujan during college, the love of his life, and they were married on April 13, 1971, in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Mr. Montoya worked as a Financial Consultant for the last 35 years, before retiring in 2021 from Morgan Stanley. He was very family centered and oriented, loved baseball and was an avid baseball card collector, as well as collecting coins. He was of the Catholic Faith.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Marty; one daughter, Vanessa Montoya of Lubbock; one son, Paul Montoya of Corpus Christi; three brothers, Johnny Montoya of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Gilbert and Alby Montoya, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sisters, Ruth Montoya of Los Alamos, New Mexico and Margaret Montoya of Baltimore, Maryland; one grandchild, Marisol Montoya. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dennis and Bobby Montoya, and a sister, Stella Sandoval.
Private Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held by the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
