Loran Coats

Loran Ashley Coats of Shallowater passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the age of 16.  She was born August 17, 1996 in Lubbock to Matt and Jackie Coats.  Loran was active at Shallowater High School, playing the flute in the band, a member of the flag corp during marching season, and on the golf team for the last three years.  She had the opportunity to travel to Greece and Spain two years ago, where she met many people and touched a number of lives.  Her plans were to become an engineer in the Air Force.  In addition to her school involvements, Loran was active in the youth group at First Baptist Church in Shallowater.  In 2005, she was baptized and continued to have a strong faith in the Lord.  Loran had a vibrant spirit that loved life and the people in it.  She continued to give that life even after her death by being a life-gift donor.

Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Matt and Jackie, and her two brothers, Xander and Skylar; paternal grandparents, Wink and Debbie Coats, of Shallowater; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that loved her dearly.

Loran was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Johnny and Patsy Dickerson.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Shallowater. Memorial funds in Loran’s name have been set up at First State Bank, PO Box 160, Shallowater, TX 79363 and Shallowater Student Council, 1100 Avenue K, Shallowater, TX 79363.
