Wayne Brown of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on February 27, 1950, in Lamesa, Texas, to Lowell and Wanda Brown, Wayne lived a life dedicated to his family and hard work. After attending Lamesa High School, Wayne started farming in Gaines county before venturing into the livestock trucking business in San Angelo. In 1991, he returned to farming in Dawson and Lynn counties. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career, ultimately retiring in 2018.
Wayne married Sondra Tate right after high school and was blessed with his only son, Chad. In 1999 he married Jan. He cherished the time spent with his beloved wife Jan and was a proud father to his son, Chad and wife Natasha Brown, as well as his daughters, Halee Hughes, and Whitney Gentry and husband Sam. His role as a grandfather brought him immense happiness, and he treasured his grandchildren: Chelby Brown, Sawyer and Chandler Gentry, and Crosby Hughes, all of Lubbock. As a devoted Papa, Wayne not only showered them with love but also shared his wisdom in many ways, including teaching them how to drive the golf cart—an activity that became a cherished memory for the whole family.
In addition to his immediate family, Wayne is survived by his sister, Cindy Guyer of Arizona, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell Brown and Wanda Wise, and his sister, Carolyn Brown.
Wayne will be remembered for his generosity, work ethic, and deep love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
