Lucy Kathleen Wischkaemper

Lucy Kathleen Wischkaemper, 94, of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014.  Kathleen was born December 3, 1919 in Dozier, Texas to Bill and Myrtle Shields.   She lived her early childhood years in El Rio, New Mexico where her father was a ranch foreman.  Later her family moved to Dozier where she graduated from Samnorwood High School in 1942.  On December 25, 1941 she and A. F. Wischkaemper married and established their home on a family farm in the Dozier community until they moved to Slaton in 1967.   She worked in Central Supply at Methodist Hospital until her retirement after 22 years of service.  In her retirement years, she taught Bible classes for elementary school children at Broadway Church of Christ, was a temporary caregiver, spent time with her grandchildren, traveled with the Broadway Senior Citizens, became active in the Hockley County Home Demonstration Club, helped establish Smyer Senior Citizens and attended Smyer Church of Christ.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Mary, Bill and Linda, Jay and Dianna and Philip and Lois, all of Lubbock; six grandchildren: Marc, Chris, Jeff and Lisa Wischkaemper, Becky Koehler and Kay Shepard; seven great-grandchildren: Cassi, Jake, Caleb and Aspen Wischkaemper, Saban Koehler, Collin and Grant Shepard; and her siblings: Jack Shields, Joyce Tippie, Nan Hall and Mack Shields.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in the Broadway Church of Christ Chapel with grandson Jeff Wischkaemper officiating.  Family visitation will be prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. in the Garden Room.   Graveside services and burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Dozier Cemetery.
