Luisa Lara, 75, of Lubbock passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022. She was born January 6, 1947 in Caldwell, Texas to Jose and Lucia (Lira) Olivarez. Luisa married John Lara in June of 1965 and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2020. She worked for many years as an operator at Texas Instruments before retiring 23 years ago. Luisa loved spending time with her family and hosting friends and family. She enjoyed gardening. She was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church where she was a member of the Guadalupanas.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sylvia (Edward) Cortez; sons, Salvador Lara and Patrick (Monica) Lara; four sisters, Beatrice Narvaiz, Margaret Keesee, Juanita Rangel and Esther Jiminez; three brothers, Victor Olivarez, Daniel Olivarez, and Raymond Olivarez and three grandchildren, Gabriel Lara, Andres Lara and Olivia Lara.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation for Luisa will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 1-8pm at the Venue on Broadway with Rosary being recited at 6pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 10am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
