Marcus Braziel of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the age of 95. He was born July 18, 1918 in Burnet County, Texas to Augusta and Willie Mae (Perry) Braziel. He married Claudine Martin on December 10, 1948 in Odessa. He served in the United States Army Air Corp and was decorated with the following medals during World War II: The American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, 1 Service Strip, and 1 Overseas Service Bar. Marcus was recently featured as one of Lubbock’s “Hometown Hero’s”. He had a great sense of humor and had a nickname for all his children and grandchildren, and extended family. He retired from Navajo Freight Lines after 32 years of service.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Claudine; daughter, Linda and Ray Williams of Nocona, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Barbara Lynn Penn; sons, Bobby and Ronnie Earl Braziel; three brothers, Amos, Emmet and Audy (Hop); sister, Altha Mae Harris.
Visitation will be 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church 10306 Indiana Avenue with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
