Maria Angelita (Macias) Moreno, 78, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 13, 2021. She was born on June 18, 1943, in Austin, Travis County, Texas.
She married Antonio Moreno, Jr. on June 17, 1977, in Lamar, Colorado.
Mrs. Moreno worked faithfully as a caretaker and provider for many families for over 20 years with Phoenix Home Health, before retiring in 2015. She was an avid bingo player, loved to cook and listen to Spanish music by Vicente Fernandez and collected all types of elephant memorabilia. She was a family-oriented person, loving to have her whole family over on Sundays to cook and watch the Dallas Cowboy's play on the television and her family get a little rowdy watching the game. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Frank (Lisa) Cardenas, Daniel Moreno and Nathan Covarrubio, all of Lubbock; seven daughters, Juanita (Chespiro) Rivas of Canoga Park, California, Martha (Danny) Moncibaiz of Lubbock, Olivia (Jack) Vasquez of Lubbock, Alicia (Juan) Moreno of Lubbock, Becky Gonzales of Dallas, Leticia (Jorge) Moreno-Chavez of Lubbock and Toni (Yvette) Moreno of Lubbock; two brothers, Joe L. Alvarado and Raul Resendez, both of San Antonio; one sister, Ermalinda Perez of Dallas; 29 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Moreno, Jr. on March 8, 2018, one son, Luis Cardenas on March 28, 2019, and one grandson, Abel Trevino, Jr. on January 1, 2015.
Visitation for Mrs. Moreno will be Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 2 PM to 8 PM at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1120 52nd Street in Lubbock, with Father Martin Pina officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Pallbearers will be James Draper, Jeremiah Hernandez, Daniel Moreno, Joe Cardenas, Francis Cisco and George Perez.
