Maria Nunez

Maria Irene Nunez, 68, of Lubbock passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022 in Lubbock.

Maria was born on July 11, 1954 in San Marcos, Texas., and she lived in San Marcos at an early age.  Her family moved to Lubbock, where she has lived all her life.  She was always on the go and loved walking around, exploring, and riding the City Bus route.  She enjoyed reading, arts and crafts, dancing, concerts, and Tejano music, especially Grupo Siggno.  Most of all, she loved spending time at Silver Star and with her family and siblings, which they knew her as “Vave”.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Sandra Franco of Georgetown, son, Michael and Christina Franco of Austin, seven siblings, Mary and Faustino Lavato of Dallas, Joann Franco of Lubbock, Erlinda Franco of Lubbock, Olga Franco of Lubbock, Auralia and Roderick Keys of Lubbock, Angel Ortiz of Pflugerville, and Diane Franco Lopez of Round Rock, seven grandchildren, Alexis, Michael, Elias, Noah, Alexandria, Jesse, and Aiden, and two great grandchildren, Jeremiah and Azariah.  Maria was preceded in death by her mother, Janie Franco, father, Jesus Franco, Sr., and brother, Jesus Franco, Jr.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM Friday, December 9, 2022 at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, in Lubbock with a prayer service at 6:00 PM.  Celebration of life services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Venue on Broadway and interment will follow in at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.  Please visit www.combestfamilyfuneralhomes.com for obituary information and service details.
