Maria Rodriguez

Maria De Jesus “Nana” Rodriguez passed away on April 18, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by her family.  She was born on June 20, 1955, in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico.  She moved to Lubbock in 1978 and started her career with Texas Tech and retired in 2013.

A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Besides her love for always being surrounded by all her family, she also enjoyed scratching her loterias.  She was always a very welcoming person with the most contagious laugh.  She acted as a mother to the motherless and she was known for her ability to guide people on the right paths.  She touched many lives with how kind she was to everyone and was always willing to help.  She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory is her mother Maria Santos Criado, her children Enrique Gonzales and Amanda Smith, Esmeralda Chandler, Angelica and Eric Casarez and Andres Criado. Her sisters, Dominga Rodriguez(Minga), Anita Ortega, Olga Martinez, Maria De Resario (Chayo) Rodriguez, and brother Benancio Rodriguez. Grandchildren: Eric Dorian, Elysia Danielle, Eric Donnavan, Earon Damian, Ellyana Desirae, Esabella Renee, and her beloved great grandchildren: Eric Donnavan JR Casarez, Emilio Dax Casarez, Elena Dalia Casarez, and Alexei Elaine Chandler.

Maria was preceded in death by her sisters Patricia Reveles, Ramona Garza, and her brother Mario Rodriguez.

A memorial service will be held Monday April 24th, 2023, at 1:30 P.M. in Combest Funeral Home Chapel.
