Mark Allen Rampy

Mark Allen Rampy, 71, loving husband of Dawn Rampy, father, and grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Mark was born on November 2, 1952, in Newport, Rhode Island, where his father was stationed in the Navy, but Mark was soon brought back home to Lubbock. A proud, lifelong resident since, Mark graduated from Coronado High School in 1971. While at Coronado, he played football.  Following graduation, he attended Texas Tech University for two years where he studied business.

Mark worked for more than four decades in automotive sales in Lubbock in various capacities, retiring in 2022. Mark was a hard worker and great provider. In his free time, Mark loved sports, especially football, and was an avid Texas Tech fan. He enjoyed music, history, and had a great sense of humor with an arsenal of good jokes. Mark was one of a kind.

Mark most loved his family. He married his devoted wife of 33 years, Dawn Rampy, on July 27, 1990. He had five children and four grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud. He spent the last days of his life surrounded by all of his kids and grandkids over the Christmas holiday.

Mark was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 13 years ago and fought a valiant fight. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Mark’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his loving wife, Dawn; his children:  Matthew Rampy (Amy) of Austin, Holly Baird (John) of Dallas, Ashley Rampy of Lubbock, Bridget Rampy of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Sean Rampy (Makayley) of Lubbock; one sister, Sharon Castro (Tommy) of Portland, Oregon; four grandchildren:  Isabel Rampy, Griffin Rampy, Raeleigh Rampy and Jack Baird.  Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pat (Ausmus) Rampy and his father and mother-in-law, Fred and Sandra Gorell.

There will be a time of reflection and visitation for Mark from 12:45 PM to 2 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2024, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, with funeral services to follow at 2 PM.  Pastor Mark Stripling of Ransom Canyon Chapel will be the officiant.  Final rites and interment will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.

The pallbearers will be Sean Rampy, Matthew Rampy, John Baird, Kalvin Vallance, Kris Hodges, and James Kinsey.

Because of the Lord's great love we are  not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

They are new every morning; geat is your faithfulness.
