Marla A. Alonzo, 48, of Lubbock, passed away on April 22, 2023, surrounded by those she loved most. She was born on January 16, 1975, in Lubbock, TX to Carlos Alonzo and Sylvia Trevino.
She attended Shallowater and Lubbock-Cooper schools and later met her former husband, Raymond Yannis. They were married for 23-years and had 3 children. She worked alongside many friends at USDA Cotton Division before retiring due to her health. Her most cherished memories were alongside her family especially her granddaughters. She loved shopping, pampering herself, and had a never-ending love for the Dallas Cowboys.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her three children: Alexia Hernandez of Fort Worth, TX; Anthony Yannis of Lubbock, TX; Raymond Yannis of Lubbock, TX; six grandchildren, son-in-law Jonathan Hernandez, daughter-in-law Lauren Saenz, five sisters, her partner of 12-years John Carlos Reyes, along with a host of family and friends. Marla was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother Maria Alonzo, and uncle Frederico Alonzo.
A time of reflection and a memorial visitation will be held from 1 PM to 8 PM and the Rosary will be prayed from 6 PM to 7 PM on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Combest Family Funeral Home, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401. Marla’s family will honor her memory with a funeral service at 10 AM on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe. She will be laid to rest at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, 15602 TX-493 Loop, Lubbock, TX
