Mary Beth Adamson Andrews, 93, of Lubbock, was lifted into heaven by her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 7, 1930, in Paducah, Cottle County, Texas, to the late Ernest Oscar Stewart and Dixie (Seawright) Stewart, and her older brother, E. O. “Doc” Stewart.
She attended Lubbock High School, graduating with the senior class of 1947. She attended West Texas State University and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1968.
While attending her first semester at Texas Tech University, she met the love of her life, J. R. Adamson, Jr., who had just returned from serving his country during World War II, and they were united in marriage on June 4, 1948, in Lubbock. Mr. Adamson preceded her in death on January 18, 1992. While on a mission trip to Brazil, she met Nat Andrews. On November 8, 2004, she married Nat Andrews in Ball Ground, Georgia. Mr. Andrews preceded her in death on June 28, 2012.
Mrs. Andrews was a beloved teacher, teaching 1st grade at Turkey and Valley for 15 years. She also played the organ and piano for First Baptist Church in Turkey and Redbud Baptist Church in Lubbock, where she was a member. She enjoyed gardening and growing lovely flowers. She was known for cooking delicious comfort food and delivering to those in need. She loved to bake her famous chocolate chip cookies and share them with everyone, as she was known as the neighborhood greeter. Visiting people in the hospital through her church was one of her strong attestments to her faith, as well as studying the Bible and teaching Sunday School. She loved to encourage her family to pursue their talents and she supported them every step of the way. Her family described her as a sweetheart, loving mother and grandmother.
Those left to cherish and honor her memory include her two sons, Rod Adamson and wife Linda of Ruidoso, New Mexico and Rex Adamson and wife Charmaine of Lubbock. She also leaves behind four special grandchildren: Nicki Adamson Jung, Aaron Adamson and wife Amanda, Ashley Martin and husband Justin, and Lani Price and husband Jered. In addition, her twelve beloved great-grandchildren: Ella Price, Owen Price, Trooper Adamson, Tally Adamson, Harvey Price, Reese Martin, Tenley Adamson, Cruz Price, Chase Price, Rhyan Martin, Gunner Price and Hana Jung. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and her brother and sister-in-law, Doc and Martha Stewart.
