Mary Barnette

Mary Barnette of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the age of 76.  She was born August 24, 1936 in Wellington to Walter and Edna (Dale) Abney.    She was a member of the Salvation Army Disaster Area Relief Team and their bookkeeper for over 25 years. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Cindy Summerville of Irving and Gina Johnson and husband Shane of Lubbock; four brothers, Walter Abney of Lubbock, Michael Abney of Levelland, Dan Abney of Oklahoma, and Terry Abney of Oregon; two sisters, Carol Pruitt of Tulia and Patricia Williams of Wolfforth; five grandchildren, Niki Petty, Sgt. Joseph Summerville and wife Capt. Meggie Summerville of the U. S. Army, Mary Summerville, Steven Johnson and Taylor Johnson; and six great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Michael Barnette.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 with the family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Combest Family Memorial Chapel.  Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery.
